Through A Glass

Morning rises through the glass of a hospital window. The long dark night of the soul is about to end. Dad will not be looking through the darker glass of this life.

Soon he will be face to face with the Grand Otherness of life. Some have described this journey as a crossing over. Now, beside his bed, hearing the gentle breaths of what will probably be a last day, I am in awe of the human spirit and the Creator who breathes life into goodness and guides each soul to a new Sunrise.

It's okay to cross now, Dad. It's okay.

  1. My father, siblings, and I sat with Mother as she passed from this life into Heaven and to her Lord and Savior. Of course we cried, but I consider it a sacred moment, to have had the privilege of witnessing my mother's "Home going". Heaven is our true home and I rejoice that I will live eternally there with her!! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, Wanda.

  7. So grateful for keeping us updated on the life of your father. I have really enjoyed reading your bolgs dedicated to his reading. Although I may have only meet him once I feel like I really have gotten to know him through you. His life was devoted to service to God and Family and now he is getting his reward. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. Jenny Wheeler Parker

  8. Thank you for this blog. It gives me a deeper connection to the Great Uncle who probably didn't know how far his inspiration reached into my soul and calling to ministry. I'm currently sitting in the seminary library, writing an ethics final paper, a place I would not be if not for his example in my life.
I wish you God's peace during this time Wanda.
